Company History

Warbrick Engineering, a family business, was established in 1946. One of the earliest sales agencies, in UK & Ireland, representing producers of specialised machinery, used in the manufacture of cable and wire. Warbrick have long established links with Principals in EU and North America and today they offer a range of specialised production equipment and ancillaries.

The family involvement in the wire industry goes back to 1904, when Hanson & Edwards was established in Warrington. The company was co-founded by Charles Jones, the grandfather of Paul G Warbrick and they manufactured a range of tubular stranding machines and wire winding equipment, which were acknowledged throughout the world. Warrington was then at the centre of the UK steel wire and wire rope producing industries.

Warbrick moved into manufacturing in 1979, when they acquired the Larmuth Engineering business and the site in Knutsford, also Dean Bros in Nottingham. The product range covered specialised winding machinery and steel reels and at that time they employed 85 people.

The main manufacturing interests were sold in 1989, apart from their established Chalkmaster production unit, which continued production in Knutsford until March 2002, when the business was sold and manufacturing was transferred to the USA. At that time manufacturing ceased.
